World Game

It is much easier to engage with and internalise a complex model through experience and interaction. The World Game provides a way in which the players can engage with the complexity of the global problematique in a fun, non-threatening, interactive and highly creative way. The players may be clients in a business context, community groups, students or individuals seeking to broaden their capacities.

IFF have developed a number of versions of the World Game for different purposes and circumstances. This website can be used as an integral part of the world game – eg allowing players to investigate a particular area which expertise they can then ‘represent’ during the playing of the game.

Other versions have pre-prepared cards for each of the twelve factors, and a twelve-sided dice to generate random combinations of trends, challenges and opportunities.

Or players can make their own connections through a process that rapidly establishes the relevance of the twelve factors and generates and organises existing ideas or strategies in the context of the model – a highly sophisticated form of ‘wind-tunnelling’. A further stage is to introduce some of the discontinuities, thus generating further ideas that improve the resilience of a strategy to shocks and surprises.
