The players may be clients in a business context, community groups, students or individuals seeking to broaden their capacities.

Developing Strategic Resilience

Anticipation of world events and their impact on localities is becoming an increasingly urgent requirement so leaders and their teams can cultivate essential resilience capacity. Strategic resilience can be increased through World System Impact Analysis - is a concentrated cost effective way for corporations, institutions and public bodies to innovate and test adaptive policies and strategies. The main focus of an Impact Project is a series of workshops designed for key stakeholders responsible for increasing and developing resilience.

Interpreting Horizon Scanning

The model can be used as a framework for scanning and diagnosing the current complex of global challenges. One can then consider the prospects for a project, a programme or an intention in light of the model. This can be strong medicine – a journey through the current state of each of the twelve factors has a cumulative impact. But it is also curative: once the non-viability of our current situation is seen more clearly, without avoiding or denying the issues, the question naturally arises “is there a viable alternative?”

Education for One-Planet Living

Variations of the IFF World Game lend themselves to a variety of educational applications. These can range from leadership training to raising children’s and families’ awareness of sustainability. One application in leadership is introducing the model in an interactive part-gaming form in Masters courses, whether in business administration or the growing range of sustainability related courses. There are also applications in community development and general civic education for greater awareness of the global and local situations.
