Engagement Process

The process of engagement typically moves through three stages, each of increasing value:

1) ‘IFF Outside’ (workshop or, better, learning journey)

  • a creative workshop or learning journey to investigate the issue, at least one day
  • designed, researched, facilitated and reported by IFF team
  • aims to explore existing thinking and generate fresh insight

2) ‘IFF Alongside’ (project)

  • workshop leads to commitment to longer term joint project
  • greater use of IFF international network for ideas/advice/support
  • likely to last at least a number of months
  • action oriented, but may also lead to written report for wider dissemination

3) ‘IFF Inside’ (programme)

  • successful project leads to longer term partnership with IFF
  • IFF’s role is as thinking partner and source of ongoing learning support, challenge and network of international resources
